STEAM Certificate Information
FOR WHO?

Students that are attending Kenmore Middle School
-
Students who are interested in the subjects of science, technology, engineering, art, and math
(Students may begin working on the certificate when they are in either 6th grade or 7th grade)
6TH GRADE REQUIREMENTS
1. Students must take the STEAM Foundations Class
(This class can be taken as either an elective, an ACT II, or possibly over the summer)
STEAM Foundation Examples:
- Power / Energy
- Sensory Design
- Society & Sustainability
- Structure & Engineering
7TH GRADE REQUIREMENTS
Prerequisite = STEAM Foundations Class
OPTION #1
1. Students must complete a Science Fair Project
2. Students must complete one activity / project in each of the three STEAM pillars (for a total of 3 activities / projects)
OPTION #2
1. Students must complete a Science Fair Project
2. Students must take the STEAM Foundations Class AND the STEAM Applications Class
OPTION #3
- Students must complete a Science Fair Project
- Students must take the STEAM Foundations Class OR the STEAM Applications Class
- Students must complete one activity / project in two out of the three STEAM pillars (for a total of 2 activities / projects)
8TH GRADE REQUIREMENTS
Prerequisite = STEAM Foundations Class
1. Students must complete a Science Fair Project
2. Students must complete one activity / project in each of the three STEAM pillars (for a total of 3 activities / projects)
